In Gallo-Roman religion, Epona is a protector of horses. She is particularly also a Goddess of fertility. In central Europe Epona is known also under name of Kotys, for example there is a rocky hill in the Czech Karst with the name of Kotyz (La Tene oppidum in the past), close to this hill there is another hill with the name of Zlaty Kun (Golden Horse Hill) with caves inside. It is beleived that deeply in the caves there is a big statue of a horse made of gold. Really interesting .. Czechs are Slavic people but local Celtic names and tales still lives ... this is one aspect that connects Europe.
