Medieval pendant "Coronation by phallus"
Here you can purchase a fun medieval pendant that was modeled after a historical obscene badge from the late Middle Ages.
This remarkable pilgrim badge was created from a medieval find discovered in the Dutch diocese of 's-Hertogenbosch and dates back to 1375 to 1425 AD.
So-called obscene-erotic signs were widespread in northern Europe, especially in the Netherlands, in the late Middle Ages and served for general amusement during the carnival season.
The obscene badge 'Coronation with a phallus' depicts a female figure with a phallus, equipped with a staff and a pilgrim's sack on which she wears a crown. This motif can be interpreted as a pun referring to pilgrimage.
The obscene-erotic pendant is made of high quality bronze or in a genuine silver plated version. It has a loop on the back for wearing around the neck or attaching to clothing. The pilgrim badge can also be easily attached to clothing through several holes.
The 'Coronation of the Phallus' pendant measures 2.9 x 2.4 cm, which is the size of the historical original.
A 1 m long black leather strap is included.
