DOMOVOI, Slavic House Spirit - Protector with Kolovrat, bronze pendant
DOMOVOI (or Domowik) is, in Slavic folklore, a house spirit, a guardian of the house who sometimes helps with household or field work. Every house is said to have one.
He lives under a threshold or under the stove. It is important to maintain a good relationship with Domovoi, you can present them with an offering of milk, biscuits or a slice of salted bread. Place all of that on a white cotton cloth and leave out for him over night. If you are planning to move into a new place, Domovoi should come with you, as far as the tradition goes. Therefore, offer him a high boot for him to climb into, and take him into your new home.
We should warn you, Domovoi may get angry and spiteful. He can leaves small muddy footprints, the occasional plate cracks or a bit of plaster falls off. This is the sign of the fact, that Domovoi is not happy about your ways at home. Appease him by changing your behaviour and offer him his favourite treats.
