The313th Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron of the RAF was formed in May 1941 and consisted of experienced Czechoslovak pilots fighting against Nazi Germany. Its motto was "One hawk scatters many crows", which symbolized the courage and determination of the pilots. The squadron flew exclusively Supermarine Spitfires - from the early Mk.I and Mk.V versions to the more powerful Mk.IX, with which they carried out escort, patrol and attack missions over Europe.
