Folding stool - inspiration from antiquity and the Middle Ages. The folding stool has been used throughout history and its basic design has remained unchanged from its first known use in ancient Egypt, through the Roman era, the Middle Ages and into modern times. Its portability made it a popular choice for religious dignitaries during ceremonies outside their diocese(the phalanx) and military commanders during campaigns (the field stool). In private households it often became a status symbol, being decorated with ornaments and elaborate marquetry. Because of its X-shaped frame, this type of folding seat is also known as a scissor or X-chair. Despite its simplicity, the folding stool has retained its popularity and has found application in many aspects of everyday life.

The precision crafted portable stool offered is inspired by the backless folding chairs of antiquity and the Middle Ages. The extremely strong carbon steel frame has curved legs forming a wide X and is complemented by a comfortable, thick leather seat that is sewn and secured with sturdy stitching. The folding frame makes it easily portable and space-saving when not in use.

With its rustic yet timelessly elegant look, it fits seamlessly into any historical era. It is an ideal accessory for campgrounds(Roman, medieval, etc.), historical fairs and other events related to reenactment, living history or larp.
