Italian Renaissance axe from the late 15th century, inspired by an ornate original dating to around 1490 from the George F. Harding Collection at the Art Institute of Chicago. The axehead features distinctive pierced decoration, reflecting the period’s taste for richly embellished weapons.

The historical original may have served as a hunting axe for a nobleman or a member of his retinue, or as a symbol of status. Its exact purpose, however, is not conclusively documented.

The replica’s head is made from C60 high-carbon steel and mounted on a European ash haft. The axe is supplied unsharpened.
