Moravia Marchionatus (Margraviate of Moravia)
A reproduction of an early modern map of Moravia depicting the margraviate as it appeared at the time, including cities, rivers, mountain ranges, and provincial borders. In addition to the map itself, it also features period vedute of Brno and Znojmo, the provincial coat of arms, and depictions of figures in contemporary attire, all of which underscore the work’s representative character.
The map was created at a time when cartography had become not only a practical tool but also an artistic discipline. In addition to geographical information, it therefore offers a unique insight into how Moravia was perceived and depicted in the 17th century.
