"Molon labe" (Μολὼν λαβέ) is an ancient Greek expression that means "Come and take it." This statement is traditionally attributed to the Spartan King Leonidas, who is said to have uttered it during the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC in response to the Persian King Xerxes, who urged the Spartans to surrender their weapons. The expression became a symbol of resistance to tyranny and a defense of freedom and independence. In modern times, it is used especially in the context of defending the right to bear arms or in general in connection with a stance against oppression.
