A shillelagh is a wooden walking stick or club that is made of spikes with a large stick on top. It is associated with Ireland and Irish folklore.

  • Material: bronze.
  • Length: 5cm

The Shillelagh staff was originally used to settle disputes in a gentlemanly manner - similar to duelling with pistols or swords. Even today there are schools around the world teaching Irish stick fighting. It is one of the few traditional European martial sports that has deep roots in the past.

In the 19th century, the use of shillelagh in combat became a practice and this involved the use of three basic types of weapons, long, medium or short length sticks. The Irish term Bataireacht refers to the martial art of Irish stick fighting.
