Swan - figurine, cast iron

A swan made of cast iron serves as both decoration and paperweight. It holds papers on the table, the surface with a fine patina adds a touch of old times.

The swan has an important position in the mythologies of various cultures. In ancient Greece it was associated with Apollo, the God of light and music, and also with Eros, the God of love. Famous is the story of Zeus, who took the form of a swan to seduce Leda. In Norse mythology, swans appear as creatures associated with the Goddesses and the sacred lakes. In Indian tradition, the hamsa, the sacred swan, is a symbol of spiritual purity and the ability to distinguish between truth and illusion. It also often marks the transition between worlds, between life and death, the human and the divine, water and sky.
