This wooden coaster with a Scottish thistle motif depicts the traditional national symbol of Scotland, which has deep historical roots. According to surviving legend, the thistle became a symbol of the country at the time of the Viking raids, when one of the invaders entered the thistle unnoticed at night. His cries of pain awoke the Scottish defenders, who gained time to defend themselves and defeated the invaders.
Since then the thistle has been associated with the protection, courage and resilience of the Scottish people. It appears in heraldry, on coins, in architecture and in traditional art. The motif is a reminder of Scotland's long history and cultural identity.
The coaster is made of wood and serves to protect the surface of the tables from damage. With a diameter of 10.5 cm, it is suitable for glasses, mugs and pints.
