Lugh, pronounced "Lú", was the Sun God. His name means "shining" and he was considered a "good God", meaning he excelled in everything. Worshipped as the God of Fire, he also ruled over metallurgy, craftsmanship, weaving and was the protector of the weak. The festival of Lughnasadh, celebrated in August, is named after him. Lugh was the chief deity of the Druids and sometimes took on human form to worship alongside them. He is a great God to turn to when one is at a loss, as he can handle or help with anything. Lugh is often associated with the Greek god Apollo, and more statues and sacred places have been built to him than to any other Celtic deity.
