Morrighan is the powerful and mysterious Celtic Goddess of war, fate and transformation. Her name means "Great Queen" or "Queen of the phantoms". In Irish mythology, she is known as one of a trio of Goddesses (along with Badb and Macha) who are collectively called Morrígna.
Morríghan personifies both the dark side of battle and the magical protection of the tribe. Often appearing on the battlefield in the form of a crow or raven bringing the omen of death, she is therefore considered the prophetess and ruler of the warriors' destiny. She can predict the outcome of a battle, strengthen courage or sow confusion among enemies.
In addition to her warrior power, she is also the goddess of the earth, fertility and sovereignty, symbolizing the cycle of life, death and renewal. In modern paganism, she is revered by many as a protector of righteous struggle, a guide through transformation, and an archetype of fierce feminine power. Morríghan is a reminder that even in chaos and darkness, strength and transformation are born.
