Brass buckle "Gladiator". The word "gladiator" comes from the Latin gladius ( "short sword", "gladiator") and literally means "swordsman". Gladiators were warriors who gained freedom and sometimes money and fame through deadly combat in the arenas of ancient Rome. Over time, gladiatorship became a profession with its own rules, teachers and schools. Some gladiators could rival the emperor himself in popularity.

The buckle is cast in brass. After casting, each buckle is hand-finished. It is then patinated and re-polished. The buckle comes with a brass frame in a choice of two sizes (38mm and 45mm) for later attachment to the belt.
