The badge Felis Alata (Winged Cat) is a faithful replica of a playful illumination from the famous French verse epic Roman de Renart (The Romance of the Fox, manuscript BnF MS. fr. 12584) from the third quarter of the 13th century, which is kept in the French National Library in Paris. The scene depicts, with a distinctive medieval humour, an astonished cat with its tongue hanging out. This fascinating pun by artists of the time brought lightness and satire to stories. This original piece of jewellery, made from precision laser engraved and detailed hand-painted oak plywood, brings this iconic creature from the pages of history directly onto your clothing.

The Codex Marginalium series brings a playful revival of medieval manuscripts in the form of original badges that represent a unique combination of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship. The motifs are based on medieval marginalia - bizarre, humorous and often absurd scenes from the margins of historical manuscripts. These faithful replicas are transferred by precision laser engraving into quality oak plywood and then hand-painted in detail, making each piece a complete original. The overall distinctive humour and character of each badge is further emphasised by the playful Latin, or rather pseudo-Latin, name.
