According to legend, the thistle was adopted as a symbol of Scotland after one of the approaching Vikings stepped on a thistle and cried out in pain. This awoke the sleeping Scottish warriors who subsequently defeated the invaders. Detailed stamping and gilding give this attractive souvenir a rich appearance. The notebook contains 88 lined pages in ivory.
