This porcelain mug is decorated with a Celtic high cross motif, inspired by the style of 9th century manuscripts. Similar ornaments were created by monks in early medieval monasteries, where they were hand-painted on calf or sheepskin parchment. These illuminated manuscripts are among the most important monuments of Celtic art.

Celtic high crosses began to appear in Ireland and Scotland from the 8th century onwards. They served not only as religious symbols but also as monuments, landmarks and meeting places. A typical feature is the circle joining the arms of the cross, which may symbolise eternity, the sun or the link between Christian and ancient Irish traditions.

The 325 ml ( 11 fl oz) mug is suitable for everyday use and as a gift for lovers of Celtic history and art.
