Semi-circular lantern with 15 holes depicting gladiatorial games in the amphitheatre.
This semi-circular lantern is decorated with a scene of gladiatorial games in an amphitheatre. The rim is made up of arches and columns, between which are small heads representing the audience. The disc depicts two provocateur-type gladiators fighting in the arena.
The lantern has a sculptured handle in the shape of a quarter moon, which is decorated with a sphinx.
A similar specimen is in the Archaeological Museum of Madrid.
The colour of this lantern may vary slightly as it is a handmade product. During the firing process in an oxidation-reduction atmosphere, different shades and nuances of colour are produced.
