RODOPA, traditional wool blanket from the Balkans, natural

3-4 weeks
(catalogue number: WTS745)

Our wool blankets are made using traditional local methods and spring water from the Bulgarian mountains. As a result, the blankets have exceptional physical and mechanical properties that make them renowned for their strength and durability. It is a heavy, very warm and very durable blanket suitable for outdoor use and as a blanket for cold winters instead of a duvet or just as an extra blanket.

  • 100% wool
  • Weight: 500g/m²
  • Size: 150/200cm

The blankets come from the famous Rhodope Mountains region where wool processing is concentrated. The blankets are woven in the same way and using the same colours as in the past. In Bulgarian museums you can see blankets dating back four centuries and they have the same patterns we offer here. Perhaps the Bulgarians took these skills from the ancient Thracians.

The blankets are made of 100% sheep's wool, which comes from local shepherds. No carbonation (acid treatment of the wool) was used in their production. Wash them at a maximum of 30°C on the wool programme and use wool detergents containing lanolin. The blankets become softer after washing. Do not tumble dry or dry-clean the blankets, and iron the blankets below 110 °C.
