Woolen blankets, the Balkans
These blankets come to you from the renowned Rhodope Mountains where the Bulgarian wool processing industry is concentrated. They use the same colors and are woven using the same techniques as in the past. In Bulgarian museums you can see blankets four hundred years and older that have the same patterns as the ones we are selling. It is even possible that the Bulgarians gained the knowledge of how to produce them from the ancient Thracians.
Our Bulgarian blankets are made from 100% sheep’s wool that is sourced from Rhodope area shepherds. The wool has not been subjected to carbonisation (treatment with sulfuric acid).
Care: Wash your wool at a maximum temperature of 30 °C in hand or in a washing machine set on a wool program and use washing products for wool that contain lanolin. The blankets become even softer after washing. Do not dry blankets in an electric dryer, and do not have them chemically dry cleaned. If you need to iron your blanket, keep the iron temperature below 110 °C.
