This silver ring is based on the double spiral motif, one of the oldest ornamental elements of European metalwork. Spiral shapes appear as early as the Bronze Age and subsequently in Celtic and early medieval settings, where they adorned jewellery, clasps and ritual objects. Their popularity was related not only to their simple appearance, but also to the technology of processing metal wire, which could be twisted into regular coils.
The pair of opposing spirals creates a balanced composition that refers to the long tradition of handcrafting silver and to the continuity of craft practices known from archaeological finds across the centuries. The ring thus links contemporary jewellery with a visual language that has been documented in European material culture for over two thousand years.
