Simargl (also Semargl or Simiargl) is a mysterious creature known from Slavic mythology, which is usually depicted as a winged dog or guardian of fire, seeds and plants. According to some historical sources, he was worshipped especially in ancient Russia and his name appears among the gods of the pagan pantheon.

Most often Simargl is interpreted as the equivalent of the Iranian demon Simurgh, the mythical bird of Persian mythology. The Sarmatians are said to have called him Simarg. Some theories also state that the Simargl may have represented a pair of deities. In this case, he is often compared to Dioscuri, the famous twins of Greek mythology. According to this interpretation, the names Sim and Rgl would represent a pair of divine protectors.

Simargl was also supposed to be one of the idols erected by Prince Vladimir on a hill in Kiev. This pantheon was supposed to symbolize the main gods of the Old Slavic religion before the adoption of Christianity.

Today Simargl is famous not only among historians and archaeologists, but also in modern fantasy literature, games and reconstruction of Old Slavic myths.
