Tutankhamun pendant on chain
This 3D Tutankhamun pendant is made of metal and depicts an embossed, highly detailed motif of his golden funerary mask. The pendant comes on a gold chain. It is mounted on a folding information card, which features the motif of the Eye of Wadjet on the front with hieroglyphics on the sides, and on the reverse describes the importance of fine jewellery in ancient Egypt.
One of the main purposes of jewellery in ancient Egypt was its use as amulets and talismans to protect the wearer from unknown and hostile forces.
The finest jewelry was worn only by the king, the royal family, the court and the temple priests. The court and temples were the main commissioners of work for goldsmiths, and most of the gold produced was kept in the royal treasury.
