VIKING KNIT, necklace, brass 55cm

This two-piece Viking fox tail necklace doubles as a pendant necklace and features an S-shaped hook as a clasp and an omega hook for the pendant, and adapts seamlessly to any neck shape.

The Viking tail necklace has a total length of 55 cm including the hook and omega hook.

The omega hook can be bent slightly so you can easily attach any pendant to the Viking necklace.

The necklaces are known from various Viking Age sites and were worn by the Vikings either as a necklace with a pendant, or as a link chain between a pair of brooches. It could also have been used as a brooch chain to a toilet set with tweezers, a needle or a key.

The thickness of this Viking foxtail chain is 5mm. We also offer a finer chain that is only 4 mm thick.

Foxtail necklaces were not only widespread among the Vikings; these special necklaces were made as early as the Celtic Late Iron Age and were quite common in the Roman Imperial period, where they were mainly used as women's neck jewellery.

The foxtail necklace is a necklace that is both stable and very flexible. The chain links consist of many intertwined loops that are bent together.
