The large Viking shield is suitable for stage combat or sparring.
This round shield is made of 3 layers of MDF wood (medium-density fibreboard) and covered on the front with durable natural-coloured fabric. The fabric is glued onto the wood and has been left unpainted so you can customize the shield according to your own preferences – for example by painting it or decorating it with your own design. With a bit of skill and creativity, you can create your own Viking shield.
The shield’s edge is reinforced with rawhide. It is considered more impact-resistant and durable than tanned leather, as it absorbs blows better and thus extends the lifespan of the shield.
The shield boss (metal center of the shield) provides sufficient space even for a larger hand and is securely attached with four nails.
The back of the shield is reinforced with three pinewood slats, which are attached with nails. The central slat also serves as a handle and is rounded in the middle section for a comfortable grip.
