Bone dice based on historical findings. This replica of historic bone dice was made entirely by hand from cattle bones and is based on bone dice finds from the ancient Romans, Vikings and the Middle Ages.
Bone cubes were in use as early as the pre-Roman Iron Age and remained popular throughout the Migration of Peoples and Viking era into the late Middle Ages.
Bone cubes are therefore an ideal accessory for historically faithful representations of many eras.
The striking circular eye-shaped decorations are characteristic of bone blocks from the ancient and medieval periods. The size and drilling of these "eyes" make each cube an original.
As was common with historic bone blocks, our replicas are not entirely accurate. The dice may have slight irregularities in shape, size, and color, but this is not important as long as all players use the same dice.
The average side length of each die is approximately 10-12 mm, which is considerably less than modern dice used today.
