Brigid's Cross (Irish: Crosóg Bhríde) is one of the oldest symbols of Irish culture. Brigid's Day is celebrated on 1 February, the same day as the ancient pagan festival of Imbolc, marking the end of winter, the return of light, and the beginning of new life.

According to Irish tradition, Brigid wove the first cross from rushes while speaking with a dying pagan chieftain. From then on, these crosses were woven each year from fresh rushes and hung above the entrance door or in the centre of the home to protect against misfortune, fire, and evil spirits. They were also believed to protect farms and livestock.

Alongside the shamrock and the Celtic harp, Brigid's Cross is one of the national symbols of Ireland. The most common form features a diamond-shaped centre and is traditionally associated with the Irish provinces of Munster and Connacht.
