The Brigitta Cross was originally made in Ireland from braided reed stalks. It has four arms, the ends of which are tied together to form a woven square in the middle.

The Brigit's Cross is associated with Saint Brigitta of Kildare, one of the three patron saints of Ireland, along with Saint Patrick and Saint Columbanus (Columcilla). It is named after Saint Brigitta of Kildare.

Crosses are traditionally made in Ireland on the eve of Brigitta's feast day, 1 February, and then placed over the front door or windows to protect the house and its inhabitants from fire, hunger and evil.

The earrings measure 4.2 × 2 cm including ear hooks and are sold as a pair.

A truly beautiful addition to a medieval-style historical garment, they are also excellent as decorative earrings for everyday wear.

The Brigit's cross is probably older than Christianity in Ireland. In pre-Christian Irish-Celtic mythology, the goddess Brigid was one of the "Tuatha Dé Danann", meaning "people of the goddess Dan".

In Christianity, Saint Brigid and her cross are associated with the story that Brigid wove this cross at her father's deathbed. When she explained to him the meaning of the symbol of the cross, he asked to be baptized.

The cross of St Brigit is one of the most famous symbols of Ireland, along with the shamrock and the harp. It was formerly the symbol of the Irish Department of Health and still adorns the logo of An Bord Altranais, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Association.
