This crest-shaped bronze pendant was made from a Bronze Age find from Flädje near Alfshög in Halland, Sweden.
The original bronze comb was found in a male grave in a burial mound about 1 km west of the Ätran River. It is dated to the Bronze Age, Period V, and was acquired for the Swedish Historical Museum (Statens Historiska Museum) in 1852.
Small bronze combs from the Scandinavian Bronze Age are known from various sites and were probably used to groom hair as well as beards.
The comb is decorated with a sun wheel motif, which was a common symbol in the Bronze Age, and is fully functional as a comb. It is made of high quality bronze.
Included is a 1 m long black leather strap, which allows the bronze comb to be worn as a pendant around the neck or attached to clothing.
The dimensions of the bronze pendant in the shape of a comb are 4.7 × 3.7 cm, which almost corresponds to the historical original.
