Before there were books in the form we know today, people used scrolls to record their stories and narratives. Papyrus scrolls originated in ancient Egypt, from where they spread to ancient Greece and Rome. The scrolls, which were usually several hundred feet long, contained a great deal of important information.
In order to protect the fragile scrolls from external influences, they were stored in baskets, jars, pots or capsules.
A capsa is a bag or case developed by the Romans in which several scrolls could be transported at once. It was usually a large cylindrical container made of leather or wood, closed with a lid and fitted with a strap that made it comfortable to wear over the body.
The capsa on offer is made of two different coloured leathers and is securely closed with a lid. The long adjustable strap can be used either as a belt for carrying the scroll case on the hip or as a shoulder strap.
Our capsa not only looks great, but also contains 3 matching scrolls just waiting for you to describe them. Two wooden rods are attached to each scroll, making it easy to unroll. When not in use, the scroll is pulled down with a leather strap.
Suitable for a scholar, his apprentice, or any other LARP character who doesn't want to go on an adventure without their important documents or spells, curses, or enchantments. This holder will also serve the bard well for safely storing his song lyrics.
