A shillelagh-type stick from United Cutlery - a traditional Irish fighting stick! Any Irishman would walk down the street with pride and feel like a true son of the green island if he held this stick in his hand.

The cane is designed in the traditional shillelagh style - with twisted details that mimic the characteristic texture of the real sloe wood from which the original canes were made. Instead of natural material, however, this replica is cast in solid polypropylene, offering exceptional impact and weather resistance. An imitation wooden cap is placed on top of the stick to complete the realistic look.

What is a shillelagh?

A shillelagh is a traditional Irish walking stick that was used not only as a support when walking, but also as a weapon in self-defence or ritual combat. It was usually made from the hard wood of Blackthorn or Oak, with the most valuable pieces having a heavily knotted texture. Their ends were reinforced, often with lead, to increase their striking power. The Shillelagh became an icon of Irish culture and pride, associated with courage, honesty and a sense of tradition. At certain times in Irish history, it was worn commonly as a symbol of manhood and freedom, especially in times when the Irish were not legally allowed to bear arms.
