The Gro Knife is designed for you to grow with nature. A classic Scandinavian-style knife, shaped as an invitation to the outdoors. We believe it will help anyone who picks it up to grow.
The Gro is a medium-sized knife designed to fill the gap between Speider knives and the rest of the tools in the Helle line. The birch wood handle has been carefully shaped by our craftsmen, sanded to its final form and finally painted a dark shade.
The shape of the handle is designed to provide a secure grip without restricting the user - on the contrary, it allows them to develop carving techniques and grow as a knife user.
The blade is a classic Scandinavian cut, made from Sandvik 12C27 steel - and like every Helle, it is perfectly sharp right out of the box.

When we started developing the Spire and Gro knives, our goal was to create a group of knives for the younger generation. Knives that we can use when we pass on the knowledge of how to use a knife as their first tool to children. But none of our kids wanted a "kid's knife", it had to be a real knife.
As the old saying goes: "If you want to learn how to use a tool, you need a real tool." With knives, this is doubly true - to know something best is to learn how to use it. Our two new knives - Gro and Spire - take this simple truth seriously.
We believe that learning about nature and living in harmony with it is extremely important. Putting a knife in the hands of children can be controversial and seem scary to some. But learning to use a knife for what it is meant for is part of our tradition and will always remain so. Teaching with a knife should, of course, be supervised.
The two "sibling" knives are similar in material, quality and straightforward design. They differ in size and have quickly become a favorite project among the design team due to their compactness and usability. They are functional for all hand sizes - small and large, young and old. A bigger knife can handle bigger tasks. Both are equally useful and make a great pair for anyone who wants to experience the joy of using a real tool in the outdoors.
