The pin was made in the Bohemian Karst, a region famous for its rich fossil deposits. It was here that the eminent French paleontologist Joachim Barrande, who made local trilobites famous around the world in the 19th century, worked. The motif on the pin is not just a decoration - it is a small reminder of the ancient seas that once covered the Czech landscape.
