A lucet is a double-pointed tool used to make cords. Unlike the fingerloop technique, lucet does not require pre-measured lengths of yarn. You simply start knitting the cord and can stop at any time once you reach the desired length. It is easier to make longer cords than using fingerloop knitting, and lucet is also easily portable. Lucets were common between the 17th and 19th centuries.

Between the 9th and 12th centuries, there are various archaeological finds of two-pronged tools that may have served as lucets. During this period, as well as up to the end of the Renaissance, square weaves resembling lucet cord were found.
