Medieval Knife with a Damascus Steel Blade
This knife is inspired by an archaeological find from Olomouc (Czech Republic), dating to the end of the Přemyslid period, around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The original iron knife, with a preserved wooden handle and a Damascus steel blade, was discovered during archaeological excavations at the marketplace on Upper Square.
Our version follows the simple shape of medieval knives, which were common everyday tools. The Damascus steel blade has a distinctive pattern created by layering and forge-welding different types of steel. The simple wooden handle has no guard.
Similar knives were used in the Middle Ages for food preparation, craft work and everyday tasks.
