- Sheepskin, Icelandic sheep
Sheepskin with long hair from Iceland. Icelandic sheepskin is an unsurpassed natural material that will keep you warm during the winter and cool during the summer. These properties are due to evolution, where sheep have been exposed to the subarctic climate for thousands of years, Icelandic wool is unique because it is composed of two types of fibers. The inner fibres are fine, soft and insulating, while the outer fibres are long and water resistant. The Vikings used these skins both as carpets and as clothing.
Each hide differs in shape and shade.
- Size approx. 50 x 110 cm
Care instructions:
Sheep have developed natural qualities that keep them clean. Their leather resists dirt, is antibacterial, durable, hypoallergenic and water resistant. By washing sheepskin, we can remove the natural lanolin (sheep fat) that keeps it clean. To clean your sheepskin, follow these steps:
Either pick out the dirt or gently brush the sheepskin. This will remove the dust and also increase the volume again.
Once the dirty fur has been pulled out and brushed, you can also use a vacuum cleaner. And leave it hanging outside, preferably when it's a bit cooler.
What sheepskin doesn't like - wine and coffee stains. Wipe off small stains with a damp cloth. If that doesn't help, then gently dampen the wool, and sprinkle potato starch over it and wipe it off. Let it dry and then pull it out and brush the starch away.
