Historical Information:
During World War I, officers would blow the whistle to signal an attack. Thousands of men would rush out of the trenches and advance across no man’s land toward enemy machine-gun and artillery fire.
This replica bears the year 1916, the year of the tragic Battle of the Somme. The embossed arrow-shaped mark identifies the whistle as property of the British Empire.
