The buckle is based on historical models from the 15th century and was modelled on an actual archaeological find discovered near Karlštejn Castle in Bohemia, in the context of the Hussite Wars and the siege of this important royal residence. Such clasps represent a valuable source of knowledge about everyday life, craftsmanship and material culture in the late Middle Ages.
