A set of 15th century belt fittings based on the Ghent Altar
For belt width: 40 mm
Belgium, Ghent, 1432 (by Jan van Eyck)

This historic replica of a belt set is inspired by details from the GhentAltarpiece in St Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent, completed by Jan van Eyck in 1432. The painting is known for its extraordinary fidelity to detail - including the realistic depiction of the clothing, jewellery and belt fittings.

The replica conforms to the High Gothic style and reflects the aesthetics of late medieval fashion in the rich urban and courtly environment of Flanders. The wide belt (40 mm) was typical of the upper classes and was often decorated with metalwork with fine embossing, engraving or enamel.

This set is ideal for high gothic costume reenactment, historical reenactment, LARP or as a collector's piece. It faithfully captures the combination of functionality and luxury that characterized late medieval fashion.
