This design is inspired by ancient Irish manuscripts, which often included gold foil details in illustrations of the four gospels. The colorful peacock, symbolizing immortality, was an important motif in ancient Celtic art, and the "eyes" in its ornate tail were considered a source of the gift of foresight.
