Cossack Ataman statuette 24cm

The statue of the Cossack ataman represents the leader of the Cossacks - an experienced warrior, rider and commander who symbolized freedom, courage and independence. The ataman was the highest authority of the Cossack army, and his position was associated not only with military strength, but also with respect and the ability to lead his people.

The figure depicts the ataman in rich clothing with two sabres slung over his shoulders. The typical hairstyle, moustache and armour are based on the traditional image of Cossack warriors.

The Cossacks were renowned as fearsome horsemen and warriors serving in the border areas between Europe and the steppe. Their culture combined military tradition, Orthodox faith and a strong emphasis on personal freedom.
