Gladius Fulham type Mainz, with scabbard

One of the main weapons with which the Roman legionaries conquered large parts of the then known world was the short sword - the gladius. The various types are classified mainly according to the shape of the blade and where they were found.

This particular sword ( gladius in Latin) is of the Mainz type and was inspired by a find from Fulham, UK. It has a double-edged blade and was extremely effective in both slashing and stabbing techniques - it was one of the most feared weapons of its time.

The replica has an uncut blade made of EN45 spring steel. The handle is made of wood and bone.

The richly decorated scabbard is made of wood core covered with leather, complemented with brass and metal elements. Comfortable carrying is ensured by a leather strap fixed on hanging rings.
