This Roman gladiator helmet is made of lead-free tin and is a 3D model of a Thracian helmet. It comes on a high quality keyring. The gladiator helmet keyring is presented on a card with a Roman motif.
The helmet is inspired by the Thracian gladiator helmet found in the gladiator barracks in Pompeii. It was probably used in ceremonial processions before fights in the amphitheatre at Pompeii, shortly before the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. It was originally made in the first half of the 1st century AD.
The Thracian was a type of Roman gladiator, armed in the Thracian style - a small shield and a very short sword with a slightly curved blade. His armament also included shin guards, a protective belt over his loincloth, and a full-face helmet with a visor and distinctive crest.
