Viking sword Hedmark, late 9th century.
This sword is a replica of a Norwegian sword from the Hedmark area, which dates back to the late 9th century. The original is kept in the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo.
The blade of the sword is double-edged, unsharpened and has a wide groove. The guard and the broad pommel, typical of this type of sword, are made of steel. The pommel is riveted. The hilt is wrapped with a leather strap.
The scabbard is made of wood covered with leather and is equipped with a steel ending and a wooden belt loop (max. belt width 5 cm).
Not intended for historical fencing.
