Hussite banner (Hussite flag) has not been preserved in its original form, not even in fragments; therefore, when creating a replica, we rely on depictions of the banner found in period sources. The main reference for the final appearance of the replica is primarily the Jena Codex (Antithesis Christi et Antichristi), created around 1500, which contains texts in Czech and Latin with Hussite and Christian-philosophical themes, along with 122 richly decorated illuminations in which the Hussite banner appears several times.
The Hussite flag is sewn from two layers of lightweight red linen fabric with a hand-painted motif. The painting directly on the fabric is flexible, fixed, and durable.
Design: a yellow/golden chalice on a red background on both sides, with the inscription “veritas vincit” on the free end of the banner. Along the edge there are 4 attachments for a pole and a sleeve at the top for a crossbar.
