Handmade brass buckle "Jormungand"
This belt buckle is inspired by Norse mythology and the story of the giant serpent Jörmungand, son of the god Loki. According to an ancient prophecy, he was to be one of the creatures that would bring destruction to the Gods. Jörmungand had several encounters with Thor, and their last clash was to take place during Ragnarök - Thor would kill the serpent, but a drop of its venom would fall on the Thunder God, causing his death as well. The motif of the thunder god fighting the serpent appears throughout Indo-European myths.
The clasps are cast in brass. After casting, each buckle is hand-finished, patinated and re-polished.
Included is a brass bezel in a choice of two sizes (38mm and 45mm) for easy attachment to the belt.
