Viking bag - belt bag from the Viking city of Birka
A beautifully crafted Viking bag inspired by the discovery of a belt satchel from the Viking settlement of Birka on Lake Mälaren.
Of special note is the decorative fittings of this "Birka" Viking satchel, which was created according to historical patterns from the Viking Age.
For example, the central fitting of the satchel is based on a find from Ås in Sweden, dating from the 9th to 10th century. Very similar fittings of Viking belt bags are also known from Birka.
The Viking Birka bag is made of soft cowhide and is an extremely successful interpretation of the original Birka satchel, which probably belonged to a Hungarian or Swedish long-distance trader.
