The Viking is a modern adaptation of the classic Helle knife, originally made as part of a collection for a round-the-world expedition on a Viking longship.
The handle is barrel-shaped but tapers towards the ends, providing a secure grip even though it is not anatomically shaped. It has a simple beauty and has become a modern classic - even though the design itself is over 1000 years old.
The knife fits well in hands of all sizes, but should only be used by the more experienced user. It has no guard, so extra care must be taken.
The blade is quite strong, made of laminated carbon steel, with a black finish directly after heat treatment. The narrow tang runs through the entire handle and is secured in the traditional manner with a diamond backing.
The Viking comes with a traditional leather sheath sewn to the back, which is worn hanging from a leather belt loop.
This knife requires regular maintenance - carbon steel can rust.
