Moldavite is a tektite, a type of meteorite glass formed due to the impact of a meteorite approximately 15 million years ago. Its occurrence is primarily linked to South Bohemia and the lower course of the Vltava River. These unique stones are highly valued worldwide, and Czech Moldavites are considered the most beautiful.
In South Bohemia, there was a tradition where every young man would gift a Moldavite to his bride-to-be as a symbol of his deepest feelings. Interestingly, Winston Churchill always carried a Moldavite in his pocket for good luck.
