Vltavine is a natural silicate glass with a characteristic green colour. As the only tektite in Europe, it was formed more than 14 million years ago as a result of a meteorite impact on the territory of today's South Bohemia, mainly in the area of Český Krumlov. Its colour varies in different shades of green - from light greenish to deep, almost black-green, like the water of the Vltava River. Due to its limited deposits, its value is constantly increasing. The largest vltavín found so far weighed 142.5 g and was discovered in 1980 in Radomilice. Today it is in a private collection.
Since time immemorial, woltavite has been considered a stone with cosmic energy. It has been attributed with the ability to bring good luck, strengthen intuition and help in decision making. It was also a favourite of Winston Churchill, who always carried a small, unworked woolstone in his pocket.
